Hardy Amies & Present Plus explore London's new creative hubs
02 OCTOBER 2013, LONDON
Summary
In 1945, Hardy Amies settled on No. 14 Savile Row, simultaneously continuing the tradition of making classic, beautifully tailored clothes whilst also being an important game-changer to the area. Today, new centers of creativity are booming on the edges of the city, inspiring, dictating and rejuvenating contemporary London lifestyle. Together with Present Plus, Hardy Amies sets out to explore these creative hubs.Hardy Amies presents Neighbourhood Portraits, a video series exploring a modern London lifestyle through those working in rejuvenated areas of the city. Collaborating with innovations studio Present Plus, video-interviews are filmed in Brixton, Hackney, Bermondsey, Shoreditch and Hammersmith. An eclectic mix of creatives and entrepreneurs each elaborate on the ways in which their work and lives impact on their neighbourhood and how their neighbourhood influences them.
Neighbourhood Portraits, continues Hardy Amies’ non-traditional approach to communicate brand messages. Considering both its heritage and the present day, Hardy Amies invites those most dedicated to their crafts and community to tell their story about London lifestyle. The value of true craftsmanship and strong community-feel is paramount to understanding why it is these neighbourhoods that are flourishing and starting to dictate the way other Londoners live.
Launching exclusively online on Wednesday October 2, episodes will be released on www.neighbourhoodportraits.com as well as on www.hardyamies.com. Also viewable on Vimeo.
Neighbourhood Portraits follows on from the ABC of Men’s Fashion video series also created by Present Plus and housed on hardyamies.com. For innovations studio Present Plus the in-depth documentary project, allowed for a more thorough exploration of how London is developing creatively and socially. Exploring and mapping neighbourhoods and individuals that would give a clear insight into contemporary creative culture and lifestyle in London.
